Electric Cars on Vacation: What Does the Charging Infrastructure Look Like in Poland?
Electric car owners in Poland choose vacation destinations based on whether a given facility has the appropriate charging infrastructure. In response to growing demand, many hotels now offer charging points to attract eco-tourists. The availability of such amenities is becoming a key factor influencing the decision to book a particular property. What does the charging infrastructure in Poland look like? We took a closer look.
Many Poles are already planning their summer vacations. According to the latest research, 28.6% of us will be vacationing for 8 to 14 days, while 27.5% will take a 7-day break. Nearly one in three Poles is heading to the Baltic Sea, and one in six to the Polish mountains. 8.8% will spend their vacation in the countryside, and close to 7% in the Masurian Lake District. How do electric vehicle owners search for vacations? They choose destinations where they can charge their cars.
Improving electric vehicle charging infrastructure encourages travel
The electromobility market in Poland is growing rapidly. As of March 2024, there were 108,331 electric passenger vehicles on Polish roads, with 52% being fully electric BEVs and 48% plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Over the years, there has been a significant improvement in charging infrastructure. In 2020, there were around 2,300 public charging points. Currently, Poland has nearly 2,500 charging stations (69.8% for AC slow charging and 30.2% for DC fast charging), which translates to just over 6,000 public charging points.
“The development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Poland is extremely dynamic. We are seeing a significant increase in the number of charging stations, which translates to greater travel comfort for EV owners. Thanks to investments in new charging points, electric vehicle users can plan their journeys with confidence, knowing they’ll find charging spots, for example, at hotels. The growing number of charging points is encouraging Poles to travel in an eco-friendly way,” says Paweł Włudyga, Member of the Board of NOXO ENERGY.
For some drivers, this will be their first vacation with an electric vehicle. How can you best plan your trip? Jakub Bańkowski, Member of the Board of NOXO ENERGY, explains:
“It’s worth using an app to see where electric vehicle charging points are located. By looking at the map, you can precisely plan your trip, check where to stop and charge your car. Many people who use our app – and there are already 20,000 of them – plan their vacations this way. More and more hotels by the sea now offer electric vehicle charging stations, allowing every driver to quickly charge their car,” adds the expert.
So, is it easy to find hotels on the Polish coast equipped with electric vehicle charging stations? Take a look at the map below.

How do the travel costs vary on different routes?
As tests by many experts show, and according to the EV 1000 study conducted by the EV Club Poland, the travel costs, assuming fast DC charging at public stations, are between 41 and 51 PLN per 100 km. Costs are different when charging at home – drivers then pay 12-15 PLN per 100 km.
And how many kilometers is it from Warsaw to the most popular destinations?
It’s easy to calculate how much charging costs on different routes. For electric vehicle drivers, choosing a hotel with electric vehicle charging points is a necessity. It’s worth checking today which properties have such points and booking your vacation there.
