The Future of the Electric Vehicle Charging Market – An Interview with Jakub Bańkowski for WNP
The Development of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Poland
Although the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Poland is a key element of the automotive market transformation, it faces numerous challenges that go beyond the actions of charging station operators. In an interview with WNP.pl, Jakub Bańkowski from NOXO ENERGY emphasizes that success depends not only on the number of chargers installed but also on their strategic locations and the availability of electrical connections.
Some regions, despite offering potential sites for charging stations, are unable to guarantee the necessary grid connections, making investments unfeasible. Additionally, charging operators must tailor the type of infrastructure to the location’s specific needs—slower AC chargers are more suitable for places where users spend long hours, whereas fast DC chargers are preferred in areas with shorter visit durations, such as shopping centers.
However, the future of the EV charging market does not rest solely in the hands of operators. Distribution network operators play a crucial role in ensuring the required power supply for charging stations. Even the best locations may fail to serve their purpose if they lack sufficient power capacity.
Despite these challenges and the long-term nature of infrastructure investments, Bańkowski highlights that NOXO ENERGY is committed to a multi-year development strategy, enabling stable investments even in difficult market conditions. Moreover, the company prioritizes high-quality locations and collaborates with popular venues such as hotels and shopping centers, attracting users and ensuring station profitability.
This demonstrates that expanding the charging network is not merely a matter of operator initiative but requires broad cooperation among various stakeholders and a strategic approach to infrastructure investments.
